Across Spain, the figure is around 785 dogs and cats...
With your help, we can help the victims!
Across the Canary Islands, the reality for abandoned dogs and cats remains heartbreaking. Every single day, animals are left behind — unwanted, mistreated, or forgotten. Authorities offer little to no meaningful help, leaving it up to people like us to take responsibility and make a difference.
Although Spanish law now recognizes dogs and cats as family members rather than “objects,” the reality on the islands often tells a very different story. Abuse, neglect, and abandonment are still part of everyday life.
Puppies and kittens are dumped like trash. Illegal dog fights with XL Pit Bulls continue in secret. Entire cat colonies are left to fend for themselves — poisoned, starved, and forgotten, without shelter, food, or medical care. Even veterinarians, police officers, and politicians are not always on the side of the animals.
You rarely hear about these things in the media because they don’t fit the sunny image of a popular tourist destination. But we see it — Every day!
That’s why we work hand in hand with dedicated animal shelters, welfare organizations, and compassionate vets throughout the Canary Islands. Together, we fight for a better future — for abandoned dogs and stray cats.
Because every life matters — On every island!
On the Canary Islands, far too many dogs and cats are left behind in places where help is almost impossible without the right equipment. That’s why we are planning to acquire a specialized rescue and recovery vehicle.
With this vehicle, we will be able to reach animals abandoned in barrancos, remote areas, ruined buildings, or at the side of the road. Currently, the police provide little to no assistance in such cases. If no one acts, these animals are left to die — silently and unseen. An independent organization with the right resources is urgently needed to fill this gap.
In addition, we want to be available as a point of contact when dead animals are found. Even in these situations, the authorities fail in 9 out of 10 cases to show any responsibility or compassion.

At the heart of our mission lies a clear vision: a dedicated rescue and rehabilitation center for dogs and cats on the Canary Islands. This center will offer a safe haven for animals that have been abandoned, abused, or neglected — a place where they receive not only medical care but also the time, patience, and love they need to recover, heal, and rediscover trust.
Alongside the care for individual animals, the center will also serve as a safe refuge for entire cat colonies, which are often left without any protection or support.
Our goal is more than just rescue — it’s about creating a place where every life matters, where new beginnings are possible, and where people and animals come together to make a difference.
Lots of news on animal welfare, laws, animal husbandry, and important information for every visitor to the Canary Islands.
