Mike – A Loving but Fearful Soul
Mike’s journey has not been an easy one. He came to the shelter as a puppy and has spent his entire life there, which left him with deep insecurities. New situations and unfamiliar people overwhelm him, and with strangers – especially men – he is extremely cautious. When cornered, fear can take over, but this side of Mike only shows in moments of high stress.
With those he knows, however, Mike transforms into a different dog. He is playful, mischievous, and incredibly affectionate. He loves to cuddle, run, and interact with the people he trusts. This contrast shows the loyal and loving companion hiding beneath his fears.
One of Mike’s greatest joys is being with other dogs. He gets along with males, females, and even puppies, and his happiest moments are when he can romp around with them. Trips to the beach or a river light up his world, as water play is something he adores.
Mike needs an adopter with experience, patience, and empathy – someone who will give him time to adapt and never force him into frightening situations. A calm, structured home, ideally with another friendly dog, will help him thrive.
