At LIFE4DOGS, we rely on the compassion and support of people like you to continue our work for abandoned, injured, and mistreated dogs and cats.
You are here:
Every single day on Tenerife, countless dogs and cats fight for their very survival. Many are abandoned, injured, or deeply traumatized. With LIFE4DOGS, we are creating a comprehensive rehabilitation center that gives these animals safety, stability, and a new chance at life. It will include an emergency shelter for immediate rescue and medical care, a sanctuary for dogs that cannot be rehomed, a protected cat colony, a dog school for awareness and education, and a natural dog park. The center will also be supported by a professional rescue service with emergency vehicles and a sustainable infrastructure to ensure long-term, reliable care.
Each of these areas plays a vital role in making sure that dogs and cats are no longer left to suffer from abuse or abandonment. With your support, we are building a place that saves lives, heals wounds, and restores hope. Every act of kindness matters — whether it helps rescue the very first animal or contributes to lasting change for all.
To ensure the highest level of transparency and security, we accept donations only through direct bank transfers. This way, every contribution is fully traceable for donors and tax authorities, the funds reach us instantly without deductions, and your support can go directly where it is needed most — into saving and caring for the animals.

The rescue center is the very first and most crucial step within our entire facility — this is where every rescue begins. When dogs or cats are found abandoned, injured, or abused, every minute counts. Our rescue service brings them straight to the center, where they immediately receive safety, food, and urgent medical care. Many arrive severely malnourished, dehydrated, or with painful injuries. Others carry invisible scars from abuse and need peace, warmth, and gentle care before they can even begin to trust again.
The rescue center is more than just a safe haven — it is a place of hope. It offers the animals their first sense of stability, a space to arrive and recover before their journey continues: dogs are transferred to partner organizations and shelters for adoption after a short stabilization period. Cats that cannot be adopted find a permanent home in our protected colony once the legal waiting period has passed; and dogs that are deemed unadoptable move directly into the sanctuary. Without this center, countless dogs and cats would have no chance of survival. Every act of support directly helps to save lives — precisely at the moment it is needed most.
Not every dog finds a new home—but these animals, too, deserve love, safety, and a life of dignity. Our sanctuary is a place of care for dogs that, for various reasons, cannot be adopted: whether due to age, illness, disabilities, or because they require special licenses. Instead of ending up in overcrowded shelters — or worse, back on the streets — they are given a place where they are accepted exactly as they are.
Here, the dogs can spend their days in peace and security — with proper food, medical care, exercise, and, above all, human companionship. The sanctuary offers them a safe haven where they can live out their final years not in fear, but with dignity. Every donation helps turn a story of suffering into a life filled with compassion and care.
Cats on Tenerife are also deeply affected by abandonment, neglect, and abuse. Many are forced to survive on the streets, constantly exposed to hunger, disease, and the danger of traffic accidents. Our cat colony is designed to give these animals a safe place to live — free from fear and daily threats.
In the cat house, the animals first receive shelter, medical care, and food. From there, they move into the spacious colony, where they can roam freely, live together, and still be well cared for. For cats that cannot be adopted, the colony becomes a permanent sanctuary, offering them a natural and loving environment in which they can thrive.
Every donation supports a project that gives countless cats the chance to live in safety and dignity. You help transform an uncertain existence on the streets into a home filled with care, security, and compassion.
The dog school within our center is far more than a training ground — it is a place of growth, healing, and awareness. Here, we work with rescued dogs who have been traumatized by abuse or neglect, helping them step by step to regain trust in people. Especially for dogs from the sanctuary who cannot be adopted, targeted socialization training offers the chance for greater quality of life, stability, and safety in their daily routines.
At the same time, we see the dog school as an educational space for people: dog owners receive guidance and knowledge on training, responsible care, and respectful interaction with their animals. In this way, we create awareness that every dog and cat is a family member — not an object.
Every donation helps turn mistrust into trust and gives dogs that once had little hope the chance to rediscover joy and confidence in life.
A dog-friendly park is much more than just a playground — it is a meeting place for people and animals, a space for movement, joy, and connection. While there are public dog parks on Tenerife, many of them are poorly designed: lacking shade, with unsuitable ground, and without real consideration for the needs of the dogs. Our goal is to create a park that truly meets their needs.
Spacious green areas, secure enclosures, shaded spots, fresh water, and paw-friendly surfaces will allow dogs to play and run freely without risk. The park will be public and open to all dog owners — regardless of background, breed, or size. It will be a place where both people and dogs feel equally welcome, where responsibility and happiness go hand in hand.
With your support, we can create a space of community and quality of life — something the island urgently needs.
When an animal is in danger, not a second can be lost. This is where our rescue service comes in: with specially equipped emergency vehicles, we can reach dogs and cats quickly, rescue them safely, and transport them to our center. Whether it’s abandoned animals on the roadside, injured dogs in rough terrain, or cats in immediate danger — our vehicles are designed to provide help in any situation.
Our fleet includes a standard vehicle for rapid response, a transport vehicle for multiple animals, and an off-road recovery vehicle with specialized equipment. This ensures that no animal is ever left behind — even in hard-to-reach areas such as the island’s deep ravines.
Your support makes this rescue service possible: from vehicle maintenance and fuel to essential medical equipment on board. Every donation ensures that help reaches the animals exactly where it is needed most — on the front lines of rescue.
For our center to operate in the long term, it needs more than dedication — it needs a solid and sustainable infrastructure. This includes buildings for administration, storage of food and medicine, as well as safe accommodations for staff. Only with these in place can we be there for the animals around the clock.
We place special emphasis on sustainability: a solar power system with battery storage ensures a reliable energy supply, while modern water treatment systems guarantee clean drinking water for animals, staff, and visitors. These investments are not only environmentally responsible, but also reduce ongoing costs and make the center less dependent on unstable resources.
Every donation in this area helps us build a strong foundation for our work — ensuring that the rescue center, sanctuary, cat colony, dog school, dog park, and rescue service can function smoothly. In this way, a vision becomes a lasting, sustainable project.
