Our intention & Mission

It is important to understand why we are starting in Tenerife first. What changes do we want to make and what resources do we need?

Help for Four Paws - Together for the voiceless

In a world where the voices of the most vulnerable often go unheard, we have made it our mission to help those who cannot speak for themselves.

Our mission is to provide help to abandoned, injured and distressed dogs. We firmly believe that every animal deserves respect, care and protection. With dedication and compassion, we work day in and day out to make this a reality.

Join us and become part of a movement that not only saves lives, but also heals hearts. Together we can create a wave of change and give dogs the love and safety they deserve.

The sunny island of Tenerife also has its downsides

Tenerife is one of the Canary Islands’ favorite islands for tourists. The government spends huge amounts of money promoting the Canary Islands as a hiking paradise, which is completely justified. Tenerife offers beautiful hiking trails.

However, what gets lost in all the hype about tourism in the Canary Islands is the fact that dogs are still very often treated like a thing.

Illegal dog fighting, especially with XL Pit Bulls, is still not a thing of the past. Dogs are given as Christmas presents to people who don’t want to have a pet or are simply too irresponsible in their treatment of animals and so sooner or later the dogs end up alive in the dustbin or are abandoned in barrancos and left to their fate.

The reality is the truth

Some photo excerpts from our database – you won’t find this reality in any Tenerife travel guide!

The government's big speeches

The government of the Canary Islands praises itself for its alleged help for animals. The fact is, however, that the authorities, such as the local police, the Guardia Civil and the SEPRONA animal protection unit of the Guardia Civil, only take action when a huge media bacon valley can be made out of it.

We know from our own experience that the local police in particular do not react at all in individual cases. A loose dog without an owner that attacks hikers or dead dog carcasses that need to be disposed of properly and with respect – the local police rarely if ever come to such cases.

The inaction of those responsible is the burden of the victims!

We have to start somewhere

The first step in the right direction

Uncensored online presence

With our website, which is publicly accessible in several languages, we not only want to show our presence, but also offer effective support.

That is why we have developed an animal management system for animal shelters and animal protection organizations that we provide completely FREE OF CHARGE.

Users will also find helpful information on our website, such as legal regulations, incidents, warnings and tips, and much more.

Helping effectively and with full physical commitment

Emergency- / Rescue- / Recovery vehicle

We want to help as many dogs as we can with special emergency vehicles, even on public holidays and in the middle of the night! To make this possible, we are launching a fundraising campaign.

When the LIFE4DOGS emergency vehicles roll over the streets of Tenerife, a 24/7 animal rescue service for dogs will be available to provide support. Anyone can report an emergency – whether it is an abandoned, stray, caged or dying dog.

We need the help of every single person to realize this mammoth project, because here too we are hoping in vain for support from the authorities.

Wonderful future music for the dogs

Rescue and rehabilitation center, dog park, training areas and cattery

We would like to launch another major fundraising campaign in the future to establish a rescue and rehabilitation center. The main task of the facility is to provide safe and loving accommodation for the rescued dogs. The dogs are then re-socialized, as they no longer trust humans due to the previous trauma.

Following successful implementation, the dogs are to be rehomed to loving and responsible homes in cooperation with other animal shelters and animal welfare organizations. The site will also be given a dog-friendly park. The park will have plenty of shady areas, a dog pool, training objects and toys.

The best thing about it is that everyone has the opportunity to visit this park with their dogs. The dog park will be funded by donations from park visitors, then maintained and up kept by us. The ranch’s power supply is to be provided solely by renewable energy and is therefore independent of profit-oriented large corporations.
