On December 15th, I went with some friends to a vacation house at Calle La Higuera 9 in Llano del Moro.
We heard some goats in the distance and our curiosity wouldn’t let us rest until we had admired the animals. But when we arrived, we discovered a hell for all the animals!
The goats were rolling on the ground and scratching their own udders; some of them could not get up, others did not move at all. We could not tell whether the animals were dead or had given up the will to live. As food, all goats had about 1 kg of hard bread and in the water, algae had already formed and was covered with beetles.
We also found a pig that was living in a 2-meter-by-2-meter pen, with no water and no food, and could barely move because it had already sunk too deep into the mud.
In the same area, we also discovered two female dogs chained up in an absolutely unacceptable condition. The dogs were being fed rotten, raw meat that was most likely already contaminated. In the immediate vicinity, we also found a dead rat that had already reached an advanced state of decomposition.
Suddenly we heard a groan and we were unsure whether it was a person who might be injured. We had therefore decided to climb over the barrier and make sure that no one was in danger. However, the groaning was coming from other dogs that were also lying on the chain and had to move in their own faeces. In the same section, these dogs also had rotten meat. In other words, the food was lying in their own faeces. One of these dogs had almost strangled itself due to the restricted freedom of movement and the circumstances in the enclosure.
The pungent smell and the insects that were feasting on the rotten meat and the living animals were unbearable. I cannot understand how a person can justify such a situation. Something must be done as soon as possible to free the animals from this unacceptable situation and to enable them to live a life that at least complies with the current animal protection law!
